Beth Ozarow
Beth is a founding member of sfclayworks. She works as a stagehand/artisan for the San Francisco Opera.
Beth draws deep inspiration from the natural world. While much of her focus is on ceramic sculpture, Beth also works in several different media: drawing, painting and collage. Over time, these materials have naturally been incorporated into her sculptures. In some recent work, she has used a lot of found materials - the patterns inside of envelopes, maps, pages from instructional manuals and botany encyclopedias, scrawled notes and playing cards found on the sidewalk - as well as her own drawings, writing, bits and pieces from notebooks, and remnants of explorations with different color media.
After graduating with a BFA in Sculpture from Rhode Island School of Design, Beth worked as a studio assistant to sculptor Constance Leslie. During this time, she honed the skills that form the basis of every day she has spent in a studio since, deeply shaping her understanding of what it means to be an artist in the world.
